Golden West Technologies has successfully renewed its System and Organization Control 2 (SOC 2) Type 1 certification for managed services. This achievement reflects Golden West Technologies’ ongoing dedication to data security, availability, and confidentiality for every partner Golden West Technologies works with.
“It’s a rigorous process that reflects our dedication to keeping internal systems safe while safeguarding our clients,” says Technology Operations Manager Chris Brickey. “Few managed services providers invest the resources necessary to achieve and renew SOC 2 compliance.”
The annual renewal requires companies continually meet all the criteria to maintain certification. Golden West Technologies completed its first SOC 2 certification in late 2023 and looks forward to increasing its knowledge and expertise by remaining compliant moving forward.
Why is it important to you?
The SOC 2 Type 1 certification offers clients assurance that Golden West Technologies uses extensive security measures and protocols to protect sensitive information. Clients can confidently rely on the company’s systems to meet the highest industry standards. This is important for all businesses in today’s digital world, but it is crucial for businesses in highly regulated industries.
“We offer IT support to clients who are regularly audited and must prove they work with reputable vendors,” says Chris. “This certification simplifies the validation process for our clients while demonstrating our commitment to cybersecurity.”
What is the SOC 2 Type 1 certification?
The SOC 2 Type 1 certification, issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), evaluates and reports on the effectiveness of an organization. Each of the main controls is relevant to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. Reaching SOC 2 compliance requires a third-party auditor to test processes and systems to meet their standards.
Three different levels of System and Organization Control exist for separate reasons and contain different standards to meet. SOC 1 and SOC 3 audit other business processes such as financial systems or in different ways. This SOC 2 audit is especially geared toward security for the benefit of customers, ensuring the best possible service is offered by Golden West Technologies.
Future Goals
Golden West Technologies is committed to continuous improvement, identifying and offering new cybersecurity-focused tools and services tailored for small to medium-sized organizations.
“We know it’s vital for clients to be both effective and deliberate in their technology spending,” says Business Development Manager James Van Loan. “By offering layered cybersecurity solutions, we provide the right level of protection for each client’s unique needs.”
Renewing the SOC 2 Type 1 certification is not just a procedural milestone, it’s a testament to Golden West Technologies’ dedication to cybersecurity and its commitment to protecting the data and trust of every business.
